Decay calculator Rust Free · no sign-in

How long until the structure fully decays?

Enter the material and current HP. The calculator estimates time remaining using the same logic as the !decay command in Rust Tracker.

Step 1 of 2

The material sets standard HP and the full decay time.

How much HP remains?
For this material, the maximum is 500 HP.

This estimate uses standard Rust decay times. TC upkeep, repairs and server settings can change the actual time.

The material sets the full decay timer

Time remaining is based on current HP. These values come from the same server reference used by the command !decay.

HP is removed in steps every 10 minutes

Decay in Rust is not continuous. Every 10 minutes, the server checks structures and removes a portion of each material’s full timer. This step is called a tick, controlled by decay.tick. Nothing changes between ticks.

The result above is therefore only accurate to one tick. “ 40 minutes remaining” means four ticks, with destruction on the last one. A wall with only a few calculated minutes remaining lasts until the next tick, rather than a rounded timer value.

No decay ticks while upkeep is paid

Decay starts when cupboard upkeep runs out or a structure is outside its range.

Repairs add time

Time remaining is calculated from current HP. Repair a wall and the estimate starts from its new value.

The interval stays the same on modded servers

decay.scale changes the full timer rather than the tick interval, so the number of ticks changes.

Common Rust decay questions

How is decay time calculated?

Time remaining is proportional to the structure’s current HP. The calculator uses the same formula and material reference as the !decay command in Rust Tracker.

Which materials are supported?

Twig, wood, stone, metal and armored. For a custom server, you can manually enter the maximum structure HP.

Why can the real time be different?

Upkeep resources, repairs and a server’s settings can change actual decay. The calculator provides an estimate.

What is a decay tick in Rust?

A tick is a discrete step in which the server removes HP from a decaying structure. Once every 10 minutes, it checks structures and removes part of the material’s full timer. Nothing changes between ticks, so “40 minutes remaining” means four ticks, with destruction on the last one.

How often does decay tick and how much HP is lost per tick?

The decay.tick convar controls the interval. Its standard value is 600 seconds, or 10 minutes. A stone structure with 500 HP decays over 30 ticks at about 16.7 HP per tick. On modded servers, decay.scale changes the full timer rather than the tick interval.
