How the Rust offline guard works

The offline guard turns your character into a raid sensor. Leave your living character at a checkpoint, such as the entrance or roof, and enable the guard before leaving the server. If the character dies while you are offline, you receive a raid alert. Smart Alarm is not required; a connected Rust+ account is enough.

Example
Live interface example: the offline guard panel with monitoring status, checkpoint and call settings.
01

Connect Rust+ to the correct server

The guard is tied to your character and current server. Check the server shown in the dashboard before enabling it.

02

Choose a checkpoint

Position your character near the entrance, on the roof or in another place where their death would indicate a threat.

03

Enable the guard before leaving

Give the checkpoint a clear name and make sure your character is alive. Slx Rust Tracker waits for a confirmed server departure, rather than treating a brief loading state as a logout.

04

Check your base after an alert

The alert includes the server and checkpoint name. If cameras are connected, request snapshots of the relevant sectors immediately.

Practical example

A guard at the main entrance

Leave your living character inside the monitored area near the main entrance. Enable the guard with an Entrance label, then leave the server. If the character dies, the alert identifies the server and checkpoint.

Check the result

  • The character is alive and at the right checkpoint before you leave.
  • The guard is enabled on the current server.
  • After you leave, its status confirms that monitoring is active.
  • The guard turns off automatically after an alert.
Things to know

One trigger

After a confirmed death, the guard disarms automatically to avoid repeated notifications for the same event.

One part of your defence

A character can die for reasons other than a raid. Use the offline guard together with Smart Alarm, cameras and ordinary base defences.

Frequently asked questions

Does the offline guard need Smart Alarm?

No. You need only a connected Rust+ account and a living character left at a checkpoint.

When should I enable the guard?

Before leaving the server, while your character is alive and standing at the chosen checkpoint.

How many times will it trigger?

Once. It disarms automatically after a confirmed death to avoid repeated notifications for the same event.

Does an alert mean my base is being raided?

Not necessarily: a character can die for reasons other than a raid. Use the offline guard alongside Smart Alarm, cameras and ordinary base defences.
